Wired in
1.Headphones on, Slack ignored, entire codebase temporarily resident in one person's skull. Interrupt only for a production outage, or if you enjoy watching thirty minutes of context evaporate.
At 2:17 the PM saw Priya's headphones, whispered "she's wired in," and converted the quick question into a 14-message Slack thread.
01Origin
The coder-specific sense was popularized by Aaron Sorkin's screenplay for The Social Network, released in the United States on October 1, 2010. In the Palo Alto house, Andrew ignores the doorbell and Sean Parker while coding, and Mark explains that he is "wired in." The phrase returns during Eduardo's office confrontation, where a laptop is used to test how interruption-resistant the state really is. Adoption was almost comically fast. Urban Dictionary recorded the programming definition on October 22, 2010, and 2011-era developer blogs explicitly described borrowing it from the film. Later programming articles and hackathon coverage use it as an ordinary synonym for flow or being in the zone, suggesting the line escaped the screenplay and found employment.
