Claude just killed X

01Origin
The canonical instance is Ira Bodnar, founder of the SF startup Ryze, posting "Claude just killed our startup" after an Anthropic release shipped features that overlapped her ad-management product; she reported the company's deal close rate falling from 70% to 20%, and the four words went everywhere.
The genre predates the phrase: "OpenAI killed my startup" was a running bit of every DevDay. But the Claude version hardened into a template because Anthropic's release cadence kept supplying material, and because the timeline discovered the post works at every level of sincerity: genuine obituary, growth hack (nothing farms engagement like your own funeral), and shitpost ("Claude just killed my will to attend standup").
The corollary rule is now folk wisdom: if a model release can kill your startup, the model release is not what killed your startup. See taste is the moat for what allegedly survives, and ngmi for the verdict the timeline issues alongside the obituary.
