Biohacking

1.Treating your body like a startup: instrument everything, run interventions, ship a better you. Ranges from skipping breakfast with extra steps to a 30-doctor protocol aimed at not dying, ever.

He can't make the 8 p.m. dinner. Not because of work: his sleep architecture has a hard dependency on an 7:30 wind-down.

01Origin

The word is older than the AI boom (quantified-self forums, Soylent-era SF, nootropics Reddit), but the current era belongs to Bryan Johnson, the Braintree founder who turned his own body into Project Blueprint around 2021: thirty-plus medical professionals, total instrumentation, every organ benchmarked, all of it posted. The Netflix documentary is called Don't Die, which is also the mission statement, the brand, and the bio.

Johnson made the genre legible by running it exactly like a company: stack-ranked interventions from the literature, public dashboards, viral quarterly updates, and a stated OKR of immortality by 2039 ("one year of time passes and I remain the same biological age"). SF's rank and file practice the retail version: continuous glucose monitors for people without diabetes, Whoop scores exchanged like business cards, cold plunges, and the peptides stack.

The tell that it is an SF-ism and not merely a health trend is the vocabulary: nobody here sleeps well, they optimize sleep architecture; nobody is tired, their recovery score is mid. The body becomes one more system to dashboard, which is why the discourse's two poles are Johnson's sincere maximalism and everyone else asking whether the dashboard is the point. See peptides for the injectable wing and uggmaxxing for the heretics who deleted the pipeline entirely.
